Stubbornness 

Can Be a good thing…

Not think twice…I’m talkin 

About stubbornness as 

In determination 

Stubbornness as In 

Givin people a voice….

I’m talkin about the 

Stubbornness leads to 

Danger and threats 

That you can keep goin…

You have to be hardheaded 

Not to listen to those stern 

Doubts…not to give up 

Savin people as much as 

You can….people will tell you 

Be careful 

Don’t do that 

Yes you face consequences 

But you keep goin…

I have thought about

Billy Holidays 

When they exposed 

America’s bloody hands 

That still choke the air out of 

Black bodies….

Two black women 

Were stubborn 

They were told to 

Stop being a tatter tale 

Do they?

Nope…

They never did…

If I were that famous 

A famous poet 

And dug up my past

To stop me from writin 

About the oppression 

That black people have to deal with 

I will keep goin….

Regardlessly 

Go ahead 

Threaten me

Go ahead and call me slurs

I will keep goin 

If you try to hurt my family 

I will keep goin 

You’re not goin 

To put me in my place 

When you do all the wrong things 

To others….

You may put me in a casket 

Burn my poetry to the ground 

In ashes…people will remember 

Me, people will remember my words 

People will remember the sense of 

Healin and love….

People will remember the feeling 

People will remember the mirror 

Of themselves….

Stubbornness can 

Be a strength 

Can be calm and still 

There’s no bendin 

No breakin

Must have thick skin 

A bold soul needs to have 

Strong brick…

Even if you have tears 

In your eyes…

People doesn’t like 

To stubborn people 

I don’t either 

However 

If you do somethin

Brave 

Somethin that humanity needs 

Then 

Stubbornness is needed 

Cos people don’t view what you view 

People don’t value what you value 

They might understand what you’re 

Tryin to do 

But they are scared for you….

They called you stubborn 

Hardheaded 

They tell you to make the wrong 

Choices or you get karma 

I know I’m one of them 

Sayin you’re stubborn 

Not gettin the full picture….

Gotta faith 

In the spines of 

People who want to help others 

Who wants to wake people up….

People who think outside the box….

It goes too far

When laws are involved….

When death is involved….

and people will say 

You’re stubborn 

Stop doin this 

They will beg 

They will quit 

They will tell you to give up 

If you are passionate 

and fearless 

Though fear trembles your heart 

You wouldn’t stop what 

You’re doin…

You keep goin 

But don’t lose sight on your 

Loved ones and friends….
