red, white, blue

part 3.

love is

red,

white,

blue

coloring

my heart

in red,

words in blue

and no white

the independence

that i gain

so much pride

of being

the voice in

this country, America

and look at

me

brown skin

wise poetic soul

i am not an

American butterfly

or a star spangle bird

i am free

the blood of goodness

and i will rise

like fireworks

this red

this white

this blue

not just the flag

in the breeze

just me

holding my pride

in my hands

and

say,

happy 4th
