Black people and 

Kept it a secret….

Has stuck in 

Their oldest ways

Jim Crow….

It’s a southern state

How he got beaten 

By two white men

Cos of a lie

Cos of white woman’s tears…

It’s still happenin

Today 

White folks keep hangin 

Black bodies on trees 

Sayin we hang ourselves 

Upon the limbs….

Tellin others we put our dead

Temples in the river….

We never did…

And you see black people 

Should shut their system down 

Cos of terror 

Cos of their haunted intentions to 

Kill a black person for fun….

We black people are 

The victims of their 

Bloody choices….

I never wanna go 

To Mississippi 

Cos they killed black people….

Disability or not

Woman or man 

Gay Trans child 

Anybody black 

I don’t know how many sundown

Towns over there 

But I refuse to go….

Mississippi 

Got blood 

From our melanin 

From our wounded souls

If you wanna go 

Go ahead and go

But be careful….

Mississippi 

Might turn you 

Into a foul play 

No regrets 

No apology 

Mississippi 

Has no empathy 

Has no golden heart 

Mississippi 

Dehumanizes 

Black people a lot….

Black people 

Should leave 

Or defend themselves 

As much as they can 

Cos this is the lives of 

Our humanness we’re fightin for 

Decades, not just 

Mississippi

But the world, too….
