Nonverbal

Nonverbal

Black people with disabilities

Who are nonverbal

Experience racism,

and they can’t explain

Some don’t understand

What’s goin on…

How the parents

And guardians

Are goin to find out?

Maybe through bruises

Maybe through mimics

That’s somethin important to

Discuss about…

Especially in the black community

Incidents happened

We just don’t mention it often

We should…

Black people got targets on

Their backs…

Special needs or not

You’re still black

And you wander off from your staff

Somebody will kidnap you

Or a cop who thinks you have a gun

You don’t know what to do

You don’t know what to say….

And you’re nonverbal….

Being black and disabled

Can be difficult,

And you may not understand…

You might know what's goin on

You might tell someone

About the color of your skin

Is attacked….

Black people

With special needs

Deal with white supremacy

Especially in disabled communities

I heard stories….

We should be

Protected, too

Even when we’re aware of

Our surroundings…

I’m not an activist

I can advocate for

Black people who

Are nonverbal

Experiencin

Racism white supremacy

May not understand or do

It also needs to be addressed

Guardians and parents

Loved ones

They don’t know

What’s really goin on when they’re

Not around them…

There are times

When those situations have popped up

Later on after that

Or other times incidents are kept in

Secret..

That’s the scary part….

And black people who are

Nonverbal

Can’t actually say what happened…

Adults children

Family members

Used cameras to

Find out what goes on….

And this is important

To speak up about racism

For real

Cos things can also happened

To black people who are nonverbal

Can’t explain the situation of microaggressions

Of beatin like a slave, of callin the n word

Sadly

Family and Friends

Have no idea….

Til later on

They have to find ways to

Figure what’s happenin

To their loved ones….
