 Proximity whiteness 

Black people 

Will go ten toes 

Just to be close to Europeans 

That’s what we’re trained to do…

We think we need them

We think we need their validation 

Which is unfortunate….

We tried to reason with them 

We tried teach them a lesson 

About colorblind society 

Cos we don’t see any color 

But they, white folks see it…..

We have tried to explain 

To our people that they can’t be 

Trusted, we tried to explain 

To our loved ones and 

Friends about racism does 

Exist….majority of them ignored 

Our warnings….some talk about 

Martin Luther King Jr. and how we 

As black judge others by skin color…

It’s not how it works….

Oppression is in our faces…..

It never goes away 

Until we black people shut it down….

But we don’t have the same mind 

Of whoopin colonizer’s ass…..

We’ve been stuck in the syndromes 

Of lovin thy white man for so long….

We’ve been willin to defend him….

That’s our problem…..

Brothas and sistahs 

Want to sit at his table 

Instead of makin their own…

Honestly integration has fucked us up

Has fucked us over….

Not all white friends are your friends, 

Hate to say this

Leads melaninated souls to danger…..

Go look at the past, 

It’s always another broken record….

Some of us 

Gave up tellin black people

They’re not white, 

Can’t be the only black person 

In white spaces….

Yet they still argue sayin

There’s no such thing as race….

Black parents we love them 

However they still need to have 

That talk with their kids 

About white supremacy…tell them 

The truth….

If they don’t, 

The coldest world will….

Cos 

Promixity whiteness 

Isn’t all that hype…..

Actually it stinks….

Black folks need to love 

Themselves 

Love their blackness 

Instead….

System has programmed us 

To hate black….

Ever since slavery and colonialism 

They got us fallin in love

With only pale skinned 

Light skin….

Low self esteem….

Your mind is all white 

Your heart is white…

You bleach your whole character 

Into a white person….

Though white folks 

Still see black….

Can’t be a token forever….
