It's better to love ourselves

 

It's better to

Love our own race 

Than a mythical god…

Better to love ourselves 

Than a white man in the sky…

He doesn't belong there 

Anyway…in fact, did Malcolm X say 

He's the devil?

We fall heavily deep 

In love with a pale demon 

Who destroyed homelands…

Look at the psychological damage 

We got in our genes.. 

People may laugh 

At the issue and defend 

The legacy of whiteness…

Sayin leave it alone…

It makes me upset 

That we still follow what he said 

And act like him….

I keep sayin 

Black history is so important 

Cos it might heal our trauma 

That lives in our hearts and  

Erase that white man’s face 

Off our brains…his cruelty caused

This, he placed every generational curse 

In the black families, broken and divided.  

We have carried the weight of his burdens…

We're trained to hate 

Us, to hate our own people 

Goin to church sayin African

Spirituality is the devil…it was told 

By a fork tongue of a colonizer,

By a slaveowner…

We believe him through all kinds of 

Abuses…

Now today 

Our condition is still alive and well…

It's sad…

I wish all black people knew 

The Christianity was introduced

Durin slavery…it was a scam to dominate 

Our black minds to obey and bow down 

To kiss Europeans’ dirty ass feet…

Then they would stop listenin to them 

For good…

 But the violence with power 

Was too heavy, they put fear in 

Our bones not to stand up to 

That white man…we were forced 

To beg, to be soft…they made us 

Think we should speak inferior complex 

To ourselves in order for the white man 

To be on top, to be his throne (which he stole by the way)...

Most Black people don't understand 

And not aware of it..

They love Jesus Christ way too much 

That they told their loved ones 

Not to say bad things about him…

That's how bad it is…

I'm talkin about Stockholm syndrome 

Black children are learnin God instead 

Of black power…

Continuin the cycle of not teachin how 

To love black skin 

To adore afro

To admire your melaninated self…

To devote to soul and rhythm we have

No we love Jesus….

And we love whiteness a whole lot…
