Black people

 Black people

Y’all don’t have to be strong

All the time….

There’s no need…

Sometimes

Y’all need to break down

And have the best cry….

Y’all need to be reminded

That y’all are still human….

It’s ok to rest…

To sit still…

To breathe….

We’re tired…

The systematic racism

Keep encouragin us

To be animals

To be robots

And we ain’t them….

Black community

I’m aware that

We don’t usually talk

About mental illness…

But trauma shows up in our faces

All the time…

We have to speak on it…

There’s no need to shush….

Honestly

Our own black pain leads us

To dangerous zones

To destruction

I know white supremacy has invented

This way…

This way of damagin ourselves

And to each other…

That’s racism itself….

The origins of slave conditions

Planted from colonizations

Stemmin into plantations

I wish we could all know that

Information….

Carryin kinds of syndromes

In our genes ain’t normal….

It came from whiteness….

Whiteness invades our brains

To manage

To build a home inside our souls

That’s never a good thing….

That’s pstd…

If y’all think about it….

If y’all think about our history…

If y’all think about psychology….

Cos I always thought that slavery does

Affect the mindsets…

And how it passes down to generational bloodlines….

And this is why I write poems

For us, for our people

Why do we become like this…

Other black people have said the same thing…

Did we listen?

Did we ignore?

Again

We don’t discuss mental health

In the black community

We thought it was for white people…

However,

We do have issues

We do have broken cycles

I think we’re taught that

We have no feelings

In a way…

We’re taught not to see us

As humans….

And yet we have to be strong?

And let it go?

That doesn’t make sense….

Black people

Y’all don’t have to be strong…

Y’all don’t have to….

It’s alright to rest your exhausted bones for a while….

Why do we have to be a bigger person?

Not sayin we have to be weak…

But goddamn

Can we be vulnerable?

Don’t mock us

Don’t laugh

When white people get upset

They get softness and remorse…

Too much coddle….

Cos in the world’s mindset

We still value whiteness….

So society keeps humanizin white way too much

It was trained, and retrained over and over again

That’s racist right there….

It was set up…

Black people

My dearest black people

I know

I feel

Y’all do matter

Don’t forget that

But we don’t have to be the backbone

For everythin…

It’s just a reminder….
