White folks 

Don’t want us 

Remember 

Their terror…

Those horrors 

From the past…

White folks 

Beg us to 

Forget the abuse 

Those bloodstained hands 

They killed…

Sayin 

It was a long time ago…

Stop talkin about slavery…

Our traumas 

Our Stockholm syndromes 

Our own kind of mental illnesses 

That they gave us 

They planted seeds 

Of a white man 

Who crossed the ocean 

And spread his fake superiority 

Yet there are pilin up lies

On top of lies….

To make us not to remember 

That he ate us 

That he raped us 

He made us like livestocks 

We’re not humans to his eyes…

He brainwashed Us To 

Dehumanize  ourselves 

And each other…

That’s why they wanna keep 

Goin with textbooks of 

False history…

But, we remember 

We talked to our elders 

We read real history books 

We do our own research….

White folks 

Are tryin to place 

Amnesia onto our skulls 

For their comfort 

Yet we refused 

We remember 

We remember their fingerprints

Of their destruction…

They tried 

And tried 

Though pasts are comin up 

Today’s world 

And they white folks got 

The nerve to us 

To get over it….

They be tellin 

Melaninated souls 

To stop rememberin

Well they need to stop 

Actin like slaveowners 

Themselves…
