For the white folks to feel comfortable…

Not to be a dangerous one…

Must be a buckin and jivin…

Entertain not too political…

From what I see from afar, 

Being safe black is to say 

Race doesn’t matter….

That dr. King’s dream is on the right side….

Safest black, so called peacemaker black

Is not to talk about racism nor slavery…

To coddle and protect white feelings…

I don’t like that…

We live in a world 

Where the oppression positions 

Black people to be careful of what they say 

Or do….black people tell other black people

In whispers, to say shush….

Like you can’t speak the truth louder…

Like they have to bury your voice for the sake of whiteness….

It feels like it’s against the law to make a difference…

Safest black hurts my soul 

Safest black breaks my heart…

Safest black is cowardness…

Safest black has no self dignity….

Safe black is a spineless coon….

I don’t wanna be forced into one….

I don’t wanna be the one who sugarcoated everythin…

Just cos I got white friends 

Cos I got white people helpin….

Most of them know deep down 

They know I’m tellin the truth….

They don’t wanna feel this discomfort…

They wanna stay ignorant 

Keep that Dr. King’s alive 

As gaslight….

I don’t wanna be the safest black on the planet…

I don’t wanna have to….

Safest black is another way to chip your melanin away..

I would rather be dangerous without death threats…

I won’t be too famous 

I won’t make profits off the black pain….

I can be a healin heartbeat through my blackest metaphors…

Cos all I see is the humanity in black race 

My black race….

I don’t mind the advocacy 

I don’t mind lettin us be seen….

I don’t mind teachin us our own black history through 

My pen….

I’m okay….

This is somethin I could give back to my people…

If that makes me feel like a safety hazard,

So be it….

I’m unsafe….

I’m not goin to be the safest black on the planet….

I don’t wanna be persuaded to lose my backbone 

For anybody….

White supremacy created these situations for black people

To be in a position where they don’t speak up and make that bag 

Then apologize for doin the right thing or gain integrity to walk away 

You spoke up from the heart…

You unite with your people 

Yet fbi and cia are stalkin you around without your knowledge….

There shouldn’t have to be that way…

There shouldn’t be safest black 

There shouldn’t even be dangerous black 

But here we are

Witnessin these crazy events in our lifetime….

Safest black does upset the black community 

Cos we always have high hopes for someone to lead….

Safest black is a house negro….

And I don’t like being negative about it 

However we have to remindin ourselves 

The safest black is the one who keeps askin for 

A seat at a table next to the white man.

We have to keep that in mind….
