If you erase my black poems
If you erase my black poems
I will not be happy….
If you delete them off the screen
I will not look at you the same again…
Cos who the hell are you?
Who gives a fuck about
Your feelings
And everyone else’s, huh?
Truth over emotions….
Let’s learn history
Black history
Shall we?
Did you know
Jackie Robinson dominated baseball
And white folks got mad?
Did you know George Carver invented potatoes?
And I’m sure white folks got jealous….
They thought we were supposed to be dumb…
We ain’t…
We’re wiser….
Haitians beat and slaughtered their slaveowners
for freedom…
Oh don’t forget about Montgomery brawl
Black folks whooped that colonizers’ ass
For tryin to lynch a black man…
Oh I speak metaphors of our blackest events…
And if you erase my black poems,
You whiteout my voice…
You whitewash my ancestors….
Cos someone out there
Will complain
Will ban
Will cancel
Let them…
It didn’t stop me
From typin my thumbs away into
My own blackness….
You don’t like my soul…
Actually you do,
You just don’t want me to have it…
You don’t want me to have my dominance
Over my own words…
You want my rhythm
My black womanhood…
You think it may look good on you
Like a trend….
Like a fashion statement….
I’m not your model
Not your fuckin help
You ain’t plagiarizin my style….
You ain’t changin up my stanzas…
For your comfort…
FUCK YOU…
If you erase my black poems,
I will write more and more
Til my last breath….
I hope someone who recites them
Memorizes them
Each line
How it touches thy heart….
How it spreads thy thinkin….
When I’m all gone,
I hope my black poems
Never stop showin themselves off…
I hope they still heal my people
Who needs to hear….
I have to hear it myself….
Cos
My poetry
Should be reflectin
Of black joy
Black pain…
Understandin…
My blackest poetry is supposed
To the humanness of black people…
Givin us a voice
Givin us a reminder
Givin us a message
Givin us facts….
If white people get pissed off
Let them….
They’re always a center of attention
Whenever we talk about us….
It’s not all about them….
Not all about other races…
It’s about us…
And we as black people
Truly need to learn how to be on our own
Without ethnicities….
How to guard our own space…..
It’s why I write for them
From the heart and soul
Even if some think I’m a racist
I speak for them as well
Even if some don’t care
I trigger them…
If you erase my black poems,
And it’s inappropriate
I keep writin
I keep rebellin
I’m not a slave….
I’m a liberated black woman
Who got motorized wheels
With words that my two thumbs carry…
You can’t stop my thumbs
Even if you snatch my devices away
Even if you snitch
I will forever write
Til my final day is over…
