Race and disability

 You can talk about 

Disability…

You can write about 

Disability….

But race, 

I don’t know about that…

That topic is a tough one,

How about don’t write 

Don’t discuss 

Cos we’re all human…

We don’t want anyone 

To feel discomfort, right?

Let’s put disability on the table 

Instead of skin color 

Cos I guess people with disabilities 

Don’t experience racism….

We don’t talk about 

Color, we don’t talk about 

How black people with disabilities 

Deal with white supremacy….

How they’re called n word

And monkeys…

How they get killed by police…

Even with teachers and teacher’s aides

We don’t discuss it 

That much 

But 

It does happen…..

There are black people 

Who are nonverbal 

That can’t explain the racism 

They experience…

Racism and ableism 

Are sisters hand in hand….

Walkin down the road 

Torturin countless people as much 

As they can….

We do talk about 

Disability and human rights 

If we talk about racism 

We end up sugarcoatin into a lie 

Cos truthfully 

White people don’t experience 

Racism, they don’t experience the same 

Oppression as we do…in fact they use it
