Race doesn’t matter 

You tellin me 

That 

When I’ve been an observant

For a while…

Well the world will let you 

Know race does matter….

Whether you believe it or 

Not, it does…

I see race 

I see skin color 

What I study things 

I pay attention 

I do write pieces about it 

Cos from what I see

Is an issue….

I didn’t make it problematic…

White people invented it 

Never want to take credit….

You see 

You’re tellin the wrong person 

That skin color doesn’t matter..

You tell white people that 

They created racism on the planet 

They make whiteness a favorite color…..

I didn’t made it…

White folks did 

So whenever there’s a discussion 

About white supremacy,

Don’t let them gaslight you…..

Don’t let them trick you…

For black people

We taught to believe race and color 

Doesn’t matter 

We taught that as kids 

Til society breaks our silly 

Illusions…we thought dr. King 

Erase racism for good…but 

Racism is still alive and ugly…

The funny thing about is 

That black people can never be 

Racist….we didn’t make it a thing 

White folks did….

They know 

They truly know 

Race and color does matter…

They made it up by themselves 

It’s their system to boss us around 

And worship them….

Never let them fool you….

They be like I don’t see color…

Ya you do….

I’m a black woman…

I’m a human 

Not your pet

Not your entertainment 

And I won’t be fool

For that typical punchline 

Race and color doesn’t matter….

We know what’s goin on…

You ain’t slick….
