When I heard this story 

This sad story 

About a black schoolteacher 

Was mindin her business 

Walkin home, right?

These little white kids has thrown 

Rocks at her….my mind went automatically 

Straight to, 1 racism was taught at home…

2 white people never liked being told 

What to do…

This black woman disciplined those 

Rascals, and rascals came to tell 

Their parents….

Their shitty parents and their crew 

Went to her house and shot her….

and burned her home down….

Her son came 

To find out 

That his mama was lynched 

Cos she told those little spoiled brats 

To stop throwin rocks….

This happened in Alabama…

June 1933…

It wasn’t that long ago,

White southerners 

White Alabamians 

Threatened the son to leave the state 

Nobody went to jail 

Nobody got justice 

And you see why 

Ida B. Wells wrote papers 

See why Billie Holiday sang that song 

People got the nerve to 

Tell us to stop being a victim 

To get over it 

Let me tell you somethin

To white folks’ eyes,

Black lives ain’t human

Til this day…..

This is why history is so important 

Keep repeatin itself over and over 

With new terms like foul play 

And commit suicide….

I bet those white kids 

Bad ass white kids 

Are still alive today 

I bet Lawrence haunts 

Them in nursery home 

I bet some of them still thinks 

It’s a joke….

White kids 

Little white kids 

Who was taught black bodies are 

Nothin….they brought the ideologies 

To their kids…

It was durin Jim Crow 

Black schoolteacher 

Was mindin her business….

Was just mindin her business…

Sometimes doin that could lead to 

Terror….honestly 

I hope Elizabeth has rocks 

In her pockets 

Just to throw them in their 

Deathbeds where they have their final rests

Or in their rocket chairs where they sat tellin

Stories….

I hope she’s a shadow walkin followin their 

Every slow step…

I mean she haunted their parents 

Who taught them that black people ain’t human….

Taught them how to mistreat them…

Then haunt them….

You see there’s no forgiveness 

No soften heart 

For their violence…

What they did is barbaric…

They threatened her son to leave town….

Or they do the same as they did to his mother…

Say her name,

Elizabeth Lawrence….
